  • AFTER THANKSGIVING

balloon_garf Doc said maybe I need more exercise, inspite that I ride 5 miles on an indoor recembent bike 5 days a week  from 34 to 30 minutes.  Do you think jumping up and down on the scales will qualify as ''more exercise''?  I did well over the Thanksgiving holiday.  Since hubby was on the puny list, I made a small dinner with very few leftover.........only pumpkin pie left over and I read that counts as a veggie serving. lol

Tuesday, we put up the 2 outside Christmas wreaths.  I made these about 5 years ago, and I think maybe next year, I need to take them apart and change the look somewhat.  Also been deciding if I will purchase Crhistmas cards or make them myself.  Maybe 50-50?  Making cards is time consuming, so will see if I run out of time.  Did by a huge beautiful poinsettia at Costco and added candles with  little Christmas wreaths, so the dining room table now looks very festive.  Haven't decided what to do about the rest of the house.  We have this huge 43 inches wide paint that was my mom's and it just doesn't seem to fit anywhere.  I have mostly windows on one side an huge brick fireplace across the room, the living room opens to a small dining room and that leaves very little wall space.  Maybe this painting will have to go in the basement office ove the computer where now is genealogy information.  In our house we have to rotate paintings as I had a few when I married and hubby's parents both did oil, watercolor, charcoal drawings, ink wash and my MIL designed her own needlepoint designs for walls, chaircovers, etc.

Mr. Racoon must be back as the anchored, heated birdbath was knocked over.  The neighbors next to us and up the street leave dog/cat food out overnight and that is what draws the racoons.  The critters also getting squeezed out of their habitat as houses being built closer and closer  to the Columbia River.  Hubby said don't be surprised if it gets up on the roof by way of the Red Bud Tree.   Heeeeey, if I hear foot noises up there, it had better be Santa Clause.    So on Dancer, on Comment,  Oh O, where is Rudolph, he is suppose to light the way.

So onward and upward for the week.  Stay out of town and off the roads as it is getting wild and no civility on the roads.  I have 3/4 of my gifts purchased, so don't have to rush. So now time to go read a few chapters of a new book and then lights out for this ole gal. You all have an interesting week.

  • Uneventful Weekend

oak leaves It was an uneventful weekend.  Took the hubby's new Toyota for a spin on Sunday afternoon. I like mine better.  Because his has the tow pkg and also is a sports model, my seats are more comfy and I think the ride is a tad bit smoother......maybe after a few miles, things will loosen up.  One big feature I wish I had was the back-up camera.  I guess I can pay extra $$$$$$$$ and have one installed.  I am happy with the Toyotoa I have, not so many bells and whistles to learn.

Guess not a whole lot to do the early part of the week.  Guess we'll be going to my aunt's for Thanksgiving Day dinner.  I'm in charge of  potatoes and cranberry sauce.  I will fix our own little Thanksgiving dinner either on Friday or Saturday............must have pumpkin pie and I make a pretty good one.  I will have to watch what I choose so that I don't  end up with a high A1c come February.  My doc not happy with my last one of 6.8...........yes, I was bad.....because of pain and stress, I ate things I should not have.    Had a good fair amount of fruit on Sunday, and almost dread my Monday morning read.  But a banana, 1/2 orange and 1/2 Asian Pear was so tasty and  had  small meals for the day.

Sunday morning we had snow 1/2 way down the foothills surrounding East Wenatchee/Wenatchee and it stayed all day.  One morning soon, I'm sure it will be at my doorstep.  It is that time of the year.  So we enjoyed a little sun, some drizzle, ugly grey clouds and a cool breeze.  I'm as ready as I can be.....let's see...snow shovels out, snowblower ready to go, winter coats, hat and gloves ready and boots ready.  Ok, now I can say LET IT SNOW BABY, LET IT SNOW ! !  (ya right, 2 or 3 inches ok, but not here in the valley. We'll get more)

Now back to my political hunt to see and check who voted for the terrible healthcare bill that looks like will be thrust upon us inspite that the majority of the  American people say no.  The system needs some fixing and common sense says you start with the most egreasous, but you don't do it all at once.  Pres. Obama has an agenda and it doesn't include the freedoms we have cherished for so many generations.  I suspect we have a  'shadow government' going on.  That is a goverment insdie the government with many secrets kept from the American public.  I think all senators and House Reps, when they come up for re-election, should be given PINK SLIPS.  In other words, you are fired.  Now the opposite party needs to get of their backsides and promote good moral and common sense people instead of acting like a bunch of 5 yrear olds fighting.      Ok, Off My Soapbox  For Now.

Time for me to find my pillow.  It is going to be a busy week and I have to ration my zip.  It is getting better so far and want to keep it that way.    Good night.

  • On The Road Again .......

roadrunner This is what my Tuesday will be like.  Racing around trying to get things done in an timely manner both at home and errands out and about.  Sometimes I wonder what we would do without, computers, cell phones (don't have one), TV, dishwashers and cars.  Do you think we still wouldn't find the time to get all done that we want???

Anyway have a great day as we only get to experience THIS day once.

    Edit: Tuesday evening .....

Spent  the entire afternoon running around as was litteraly on the road again in my Toyota, well last stop was a costly one..........hubby in 4 or 5 days will take possession of a 2010 Black Toyota Highlander.  Of course his has more 'bells and whistles' plus we needed a tow package on it.  Someone had order the SUV and then decided they didn't want it after all.  Sure can't make the deals on a vehicle like one could 20 years ago.  At our age, these probably will be the last cars we buy.  So now it looks like ''salt and pepper'' sitting in the carport.....and it is all in black and white .  Color for hubby was low on the list, it was the $$$ signs that dictated.  On Wedneday, will turn in the Bravada SUV.  Now I just need to win a big lottery to fill the coffers back up.

Ok, time to find my pillow as I'll be on the road again on Wednesday.

I like that your home is named "Thistlepatch Acres". Nice to have an 'anchor-name'. Like on a boat, it keeps you in one place until you want to move forward. I, too, have had breast cancer. Once in 1982 and again in 1998. Radical mastectomies each time. Chemo and radiation the last time. I'm

Spent a hot day in Leavenworth. Grannie Dee gave me a pattern requiring the use of 'hot ribbon" so went to our favorite quilt shop and the supplies being ordered. So Grannie, I may finally get a project going. The owner also was very interested in Loralie Designs......so maybe the only shop in
